Welcome to Zululand on Canvas: the Journey of the Big 6

For many, wildlife can be described as an untouched pulse from the spoils of nature; an ecological biodiversity from the insight of an isolated beauty shared by mankind across the globe. Part of its enduring appeal lies in the spiritual journey and the curiosity it awakens in the souls of its guests - the traveler, the visitor or the familiar face passing by; it marvels a lifestyle of an existence evolution has only complimented. With the sounds of haunting howls, muscular silent stalks through dense tall grass, moist sighs from lazy predators and the breaks of a cool breeze by the first breath of a new born; mankind will always be fascinated by its parallel universe and those who make its playground their home. And in all truth, our life would just not be the same without our gentle giants.

Renowned wildlife artist, Joe Marais, has for years captured moments in time through the artistry of his paintbrush; by adding his passion for the great outdoors to the fingertips of his natural talent, Joe Marais has managed to captivate his canvas with design, colour and life as it should be – untouched, untamed and unimaginably beautiful. Born in Beaufort West in the Karoo, Joe was raised in Kwa-Zulu Natal and qualified as a teacher where he taught for thirteen years; this is also where Joe started his painting career.
